Silt Fence Installation — Fast, Compliant, Built to Last
ESCS installs silt fences to Auckland Council, Waikato Regional Council, and Bay of Plenty Regional Council specifications. We use only high-quality geotextile fabric and correctly spaced, firmly driven steel y posts — installed to the depth and tension required for your site's conditions.

What Is a Silt Fence?

A silt fence is a temporary sediment control barrier installed around construction sites to prevent soil runoff from leaving the site and entering stormwater drains, waterways, or neighbouring properties. It is one of the most common — and most important — erosion and sediment control measures required on any earthworks site in New Zealand.

When incorrectly installed, silt fences fail quickly — leading to council notices, work stoppages, and environmental damage. When installed correctly by experienced contractors, they are a cost-effective and reliable first line of defence.

Silt Socks
Silt socks (also known as sediment filter socks) are a flexible erosion and sediment control solution used on construction sites to slow stormwater flow and capture sediment before it leaves a work area.
They are typically made from a permeable geotextile mesh filled with compost, wood fibre, or filter media, allowing water to pass through while trapping sediment particles.
Silt socks are commonly used as a temporary sediment control measure where traditional controls such as silt fences are not practical.
